Structural Systems
The Beijing National Stadium is a marvel of structural engineering. When China was awarded to host the Olympic games in 2008, Architects from all over the world were submitting their designs. After a careful review the choices were narrowed down to 13. Public and experts judged the 13 designs nominating the “Bird’s Nest” and the winning design.
The birds nest is uniquely design to to be a memorable and monumental structure carrying its own dead load as well as withstanding earthquakes up a 8.0 on Richter Scale.
